It is impossible to thank you enough.

To those of you who sponsored, volunteered, participated and supported the 2007 Hot Lips Hustle - there are 38 children who would love to personally thank you for changing their lives.  The funds from this years race have completely funded surgeries for 38 children!

A very special thank you to Mark Scanlan and Seko Worldwide, the Zeeman Family, Ralph Stephens and the Barrett Parkway Chik-Fil-A's, Jeff Hayden DJ, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for being our sponsors.

Thank you also to the Holy Trinity congregation, Holy Trinity youth, Bob Murphy and The Walker School, Coach Auger and the Walker School Cross Country Teams, Coach Dulaney and the Walker Middle School Team and to Tom McConnell - photographer extraordinaire.

Put September 20, 2008 on your calendar for next years race.  In addition to the 86 trophies we already give out, we will be adding trophies for the top 3 overall finishers, Top Finisher Male and Female Masters Division, and top 6 Dog Finisher Trophies.  Please talk up the race, the best race t-shirt out ever, the food, the music, the medals given to each dog entry and more importantly, the cause - those children who have cleft palate who will never be the same...thanks to you.

About the Hot Lips Hustle 5K:

The Cause:

Imagine going through life never able to smile. Tragically, this would be the case for many cleft children worldwide if they are never treated for cleft lip or palate. This disfiguring birth defect occurs in 1 in 700 babies, and many are born into families that cannot afford treatment for cleft. The consequences of untreated cleft include difficulty eating or smiling, and often children with cleft are shunned and abandoned. That's why the Hot Lips Hustle is here to help.

The Hot Lips Hustle race was founded by a 12 year old Marietta girl who was born with cleft and wanted to help children who otherwise can’t afford treatment for this disfiguring birth defect. All proceeds help fund The Smile Train, a non-profit organization that performs life changing surgeries on children worldwide with cleft lip/palate. For as little as $250 the Smile Train performs a life changing surgery on a child with cleft. To date, the Smile Train has provided cleft surgery for over 234,000 children, completely free of charge. To find out more information on The Smile Train or cleft, visit www.smiletrain.org.

The Hot Lips Hustle is an annual event. The first and second Hot Lips Hustle were a huge success! To date the Hot Lips Hustle has raised enough money to fund surgeries for 34 children suffering with cleft lip or palate, changing their lives forever. It is difficult for any of us to imagine what those children’s lives had been up to that point and how dramatic the changes from this surgery are.

How You can help:

In the previous years' races, the Hot Lips Hustle has had over 225 registered runners and so many generous volunteers and sponsors that make the race possible. However, we want the race to continue growing and we need your help! Please come out and run, walk, or support the race on September 15. Spreading the word about the race to friends and family is a great help that is greatly appreciated. Also, if you know anyone interested in sponsoring, please have them contact us.

Where and When:

The race will again start and end at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in East Cobb on Sandy Plains Road. The address for the church is:

2922 Sandy Plains Road
Marietta, GA 30066

The course is a fast, flat, and scenic 3.1 miles (5 kilometers) down Ebenezer Road, beginning at 8:00 am.
